In 1994 after ten years of planning and dreaming, Gillian Adams vision of a day spa became a reality. The art deco building at Turramurra opened its doors and welcomed all to a unique aquamedic pool, steam room, vichy shower, hydrotherapy bath, treatment rooms and a cutting edge hair and beauty salon. This is where body , mind and spirit come to their senses. Where pampering is part of wellness and the warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere is all embracing. It is the result of one woman’s passion, supported by a remarkable team who share her vision.
In 1988 Gillian Adams was one of five Australians chosen to represent Australia at the international Beauty Showcase in New York. There she met Noelle de Caprio, the woman who pioneered the Day Spa concept in the USA, incorporating Beauty, Body and Wellness. Gillian was inspired.
After research in Europe and Asia, Gillian returned to Australia with a vision: to provide full spa services within an urban environment. She acquired the historic Commonwealth Bank building at Turramurra and transformed this North Shore landmark into a unique sanctuary with the doors opening in 1994.
Along the way, Gillian became one of the driving forces behind supporting and training younger generations and establishing a standard and a culture in both hair and spa industries. Her competition judge, board member of the PHA and ASPA, ranked in top ten Australian Spas-not to mention her hands-on approach to developing and inspiring her team.
Today, when Gillian is asked what the future holds; you discover her energy, passion and sheer determination.
The journey she says, has just begun.
